National News: A major road accident shook Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Wednesday morning when a passenger pickup collided with a trailer truck near Bapi. The crash resulted in the deaths of 11 people, including seven children, and left eight others injured.
According to officials, the accident happened on the busy road near Bapi when a pickup carrying devotees returning from the famous Khatu Shyam temple in Sikar district crashed head-on into a heavy trailer truck. The impact was so strong that the pickup was almost torn apart, leaving passengers trapped inside. Locals rushed to the spot and tried to help before police and ambulances arrived.
Dausa District Collector Devendra Kumar, in his preliminary statement, confirmed that the accident resulted in 11 fatalities. “Eight injured persons have been referred to different hospitals for advanced treatment, while three are being treated at the district hospital,” he said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sagar Rana also confirmed that the victims were devotees who had just completed their pilgrimage to Khatu Shyam temple. “Around 7–8 people have been shifted to Jaipur’s SMS Hospital for better medical care. The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated,” he added.
The tragedy has deeply affected the community, as most of the victims were children. Villagers described the scene as heartbreaking, with belongings scattered on the road and people crying for help. Rescue teams faced difficulty in removing the damaged parts of the pickup to bring out trapped passengers.
Emergency services, including police, local administration, and medical teams, reached the spot soon after the accident was reported. The injured were first taken to the nearest healthcare centers, but due to the severity of their injuries, many were shifted to Jaipur for specialized treatment.
Traffic on the route remained suspended for several hours while cranes and recovery teams worked to remove the wreckage. Authorities have assured that all medical expenses for the injured will be covered.

Preliminary observations suggest that overspeeding or possible driver negligence could be the cause of the collision. However, officials will release a detailed report after a full investigation. The condition of the road and the timing of the crash will also be considered in the inquiry.
The news of the accident has spread shockwaves across the region. Families of the victims gathered at hospitals, some in tears and others waiting anxiously for updates on the injured. Religious leaders from the Khatu Shyam temple have expressed their sorrow and appealed to devotees to travel with caution.

The Rajasthan government is likely to declare financial assistance for the families of the deceased. State authorities have also reminded citizens of the importance of road safety and following traffic rules, especially during festivals and pilgrimages when roads are crowded.
This heartbreaking incident is yet another reminder of how quickly a joyous journey can turn into a tragedy when road safety is ignored.
